What are DAMS?

DAMS are an innovative, spectacular way for communities to collaborate to make awesome media and legendary stories together!

The name DAMS is an acronym for Decentralized Autonomous Media Studio. This means that the media production isn’t dependent upon a single creator and the community as a whole can work together to make creative decisions. DAMS could also be interpreted as Decentralized Autonomous Movie Studios, which can create all kinds of great movies!

a couple things I've been working on uh over this week that I'm really

7:15

excited about is doing better show notes and uh better episodes pages to help show people what we're doing at Eden

7:22

town halls and Eden fractal events uh one of the things Jay's actually mentioned before the call is sometimes people don't have time for long meetings

7:28

and I totally agree with that he said sometimes text communication can be better and so one thing I've been aiming to do is summarize what we're doing

7:34

these meetings in short form for people who don't have time to join or watch the whole thing so uh for example there is the Eden fractal

7:41

35 meeting I just published this uh last week the 36 video coming out soon so I've been working to both make a nice

7:47

video here with a nice thumbnail and I thought something with different thumbnails as well and a little one or two page so why don't you send in

7:53

summary about tadas releasing the new fractal grand map and the delegates approving the two proposals for the msig each episode we can have kind of a quick

8:00

summary here and then there's show notes with some nice art and then some topics

8:05

that are highlights so people can learn more about what fracturegram is and the new MC configuration brings me sessions I've been featuring these on past Town

8:12

Hall so at the end of the last time haul I featured a little bit but I write a little paragraph here about what fractogram is and how people can use it

8:17

it's an excellent app so big shout out to Dallas and I also read a little bit about the MC configuration and the

8:22

article that I read about m6 and the Brain spring sessions that Patrick held and I've been doing this for the past 10

8:27

weeks or so with Eden fractal so if you go to edenvacular.com videos then you can see I'm also working to organize

8:33

into interviews and so forth so it's even better organized so you can learn more but when you scroll down a bit I've

8:38

been working on some different thumbnails too so you can see the 34th meeting has discussions more about the

8:43

msig and then the 33rd meeting has discussions about Perry's Proposal with dnews.zone which we can get into a bit

8:49

more that's a little bit related to one of the topics we discussed and the 30 second meeting we discussed the M say

8:55

more into dasan 5 release updates and Perry made the announcement and Patrick funded Eden fractal thank you Patrick

9:01

and Eric Clancy artifactal so basically trying to just provide ways for people to get quick summaries of all the cool

9:06

things that are going in Eden fractal and each one of these you can click in and then see different show notes so I've been doing this for the past eight nine weeks and improving them over time

9:13

so I think this is a helpful thing I wanted to highlight here uh there's a lot of great work going on in each of these meetings so people who don't have

9:19

the time to watch them all they can check out there and I've also been doing the same thing with Eatontown Hall too so I just said the

9:24

eatontownhallwebsite.com that's actually eatontownhall.com rather not internal website.com uh where you

9:31

can check out videos and RSVP and about and so forth we can learn a little bit about it I'm gonna make this website better but one of the things I've been

9:36

doing over the past couple days is eatontownhall.com episodes where we have our episode from last week which I'll

9:43

publish shortly uh and here we also have show notes for each one what I just showed you before I'll add that after

9:48

it's more refined here episode 35 of Arc fractals and decentralized governance and 34 about camazotes and many other

9:54

things too each of these have time stamps along with show notes and the tutorial must be getting better so I

9:59

kind of wanted to provide an update here this is one of the ways that we're curating these shows here to provide better experiences for everybody and to

10:05

make the most of their time here in addition to structuring our time better so that's kind of the first topic I'll stop my screen share here uh if anybody

10:12

has any comments about that then I'd love to hear it once again I really appreciate everybody joining uh to make these shows possible and sharing all

10:19

your thoughts and all the great work that you're doing that's also providing topics for us too so thank you everybody for being here Perry and Patrick and

10:25

Lenny and Jason Cassie thank you everybody for watching I think that our trajectory and our potential with these shows is really really exciting um and

10:32

so I'm stoked about it and was excited to share with you and it'll be coming with better show notes in the future so

10:38

if anybody hasn't thought about that then I'd be happy to hear it and thanks once again I want just to say do you do a great job

10:44

and we are going into the dams decentralized autonomous Studio dams

10:51

that's what we do when we are doing our own meetings and coasting together we

10:57

are doing indeed collaborations we have our own meetings but we do decentralized

11:03

autonomous media Studios that's one of your initiative on your website uh Eden

11:12

creators.com right yep that's correct you can create encourage those stamps absolutely I

11:19

encourage the people to go there and read what does it mean to do decentralized autonomous media Studios

11:26

that we are doing since about three months something like this without to

11:32

know that we are doing so and I encourage to see the news.zone into the

11:39

into this into the perimeter

11:44

to be honest absolutely I I think maybe Perry hasn't

11:49

there that'd be great um I'll just add two uh well first off I'll bring up the screen so I can show dnews.zone and the

11:56

dams article briefly on the screen here show people we're talking about but I completely agree passing I think we've kind of been doing dams for years now in

12:03

a way like you've been making all these videos on the Nova crypto YouTube channel for years about EOS and I've been doing so as well too so even before

12:09

we start thinking about his damage we've all we've already kind of been doing it but yeah I agree we're definitely evolving it much more and uh D news is a

12:17

great place to also share that and curate it when you look at the list of D news which I'll do in a moment um would anybody else like to respond

12:24

before I go and share a couple more screens I'm not sure what a dams is other than the the word

12:30

I don't know the the acronym I I'm not sure what that is so are you gonna

12:35

explain that Patrick what that is I don't know what that is uh for me I see the dams distance

12:42

media Studio it's when yourself you have already a show uh uh for example the

12:48

antelope Swiss workshops and I am doing that on my own and then I see a fantastic Creator like dance enjoy uh

12:57

behind Eden Creator by the way.com I was thinking wow I am no more alone

13:04

doing my stuff I can begin to let's say co-host with another uh creator that is

13:13

also doing nice videos nice uh uh presentation and at 500 millisecond

13:19

and and all with her fluent English and all I was thinking wow that's the time

13:25

to collaborate also at the level of the production of the of the videos and you

13:31

are by doing so becoming a studio by working together and in modus

13:38

decentralized because I am where I am Dan is where he is we are geographically

13:45

not in the same place but we we can collaborate and the News don't Zone into the picture we have the our our

13:54

show that are gathered with RSS that's appear on the news and there is the

14:01

calendar and all this stuff so let's go exactly in what we have to do when we

14:07

are into a community decentralized that Community like we are with hidden fractal we are so um

14:15

dispersed geographically that we can join our force and collaborate together

14:21

there is a video about hidden Factor promos promotional video Let's combine

14:26

our skills uh together something like this that's that's exactly that so no

14:31

competition just uh collaboration because the word

14:37

competition or let's say co-petition maybe but not really competition but I I

14:43

get the point I get the point we have to be more um connected so dance

14:49

you want maybe to to paraphrase or what I just stated now with my comprehension

14:56

about dams yeah it's good sounds great yeah thank you Patrick and and great

15:01

explanation too I really appreciate that you can get respect about it and I agree I'll share a bit more too

15:07

um so for one thing Patrick mentioned the dams article at

15:12

edencreators.coms uh where you can see this article it's it's needed update it's quite long and uh I'll refine over

15:19

time but it's got some really nice stuff in here too I kind of find it as saying

15:25

you know decentralized honest movie studio it means that the movie production or media production uh it's not dependent on I'm not a single

15:31

Creator the community as a whole can work together to make creative decisions and also incentivize it like especially we haven't eaten fractal uh people can

15:38

be rewarded for helping to edit videos and make videos too so there's lots of great ways we can collaborate here this

15:44

website's quite long or this webpage rather there's uh lots of videos about dams and there's also examples of dance

15:51

I have a bunch of videos from the EOS and Eden community that are curated here as well that kind of show the existing

15:58

dams that we've been working with as well as some future Visions from uh creative Pioneers like Joseph Gordon-Levitt who's a great actor and he

16:04

found it hit record uh that's kind of dams in a way also um the founder of patreon Jack Conte

16:11

he's also amazing too so I have some articles below here I won't have a chance to share most of it but I have a little video here I did for the ideathon

16:17

where I go through this whole page it's about 14 minutes long or so and I added some kind of cool visuals in the

16:22

beginning but basically I go through uh just the idea of the dance I did this a few months ago so it's more here I also

16:28

talk about a bit with Eve when I was a chief delegate too and I have time stamps here where I'll explain it a bit

16:33

more uh and then yeah there's examples of dams and next steps I'm also working on like production processes and so

16:39

forth and you can see all these different playlists from you know eating creators from Eden on EOS from Mark

16:44

Shear put up some great videos from Eden and so forth so it's collaborating with all all these people in the community

16:49

Nova crypto EOS nation and so forth who are aligned and making great media

16:54

content and working together with our incentives to do so we also mentioned D news twos this is dnews.zone uh this

17:01

isn't the homepage actually this is a section for just all the streams you can see all the uh videos and content for that's

17:09

uh being aggregated by Perry's website danish.zone that's related to EOS IO Antelope and fractally so you can scroll

17:16

down here uh Perry's an awesome job of collaborating and Chris is doing some

17:21

pretty funny um some pretty funny thumbnails there too so it's a great resource and then

17:26

you can make it more specific with just Eden or different topics with that too so you can see you know topics like

17:32

these town halls and Eden on EOS Chic delegate meetings and so forth like that so this is another aspect of the damn I

17:38

suppose where we can highlight all the content and so forth so I could go on way way more about this

17:44

this page goes on a huge amount and I'm very passionate about the subject about dams um but I won't go into too much

17:50

because I'll try to keep to our schedule and so forth also cool there's a lot of really cool YouTube things that are going on similar to what we're doing

17:56

here with Eden and faculty ranking musicians and stuff like that or contributions but I won't go into too much people can check out eating

18:02

page.com does that answer your question Perry and and and has that been a helpful insightful discussion so far for

18:08

you it definitely has definitely has thank you but let me ask one one quick question

18:14

how have you thought about how the fractal process the fractal process of

18:21

that we go through every week in Eden fractal how how is that

18:28

um being used in the dams idea like what is that what are you deciding you're

18:34

deciding like who made a great video or are you deciding who's going to be the editor for next episode have you figured

18:41

out like specifically what what kinds of decisions you'd be making

18:47

that's kind of in progress I mean so far we've kind of been doing damage where I've been you know producing videos for

18:54

it uh each week and just using my own creative judgment sometimes asking people in the group what they think is best but I've been putting up the show

19:01

notes and producing the video like that Patrick has been taking the lead hosting brainstorming sessions and the updates

19:07

and using his creative judgment to do that uh as he sees fit also talking with

19:12

us too and several other people in the community like like Lenny has been making the Recaps which is also uh it's

19:17

also another aspect of it and you've also making creative decisions about D news as well so it's kind of like it's

19:23

naturally emerging in the way that we can right now and then over time there's a lot of uh better ways that we can

19:31

structure it better and so those are things that we can propose in the community like oh is somebody going to be an editor uh perhaps

19:37

um and I mean there's also the just natural incentive system where somebody can say oh I edited this video I made this article I made this recap whatever

19:43

and people can reward people with more respect there so it naturally emerges and then you know over time can use the proposal system to perhaps make more

19:50

detailed rows and so forth some of the stuff that Joseph gordon-lev is doing with hit record allows people to like assign different jobs and

19:56

responsibilities so lots more we can explore in the future so I want to take this opportunity to

20:02

make the distinction between decentralized

20:07

and collaborating which is totally positive decentralized geographically

20:12

and collaborating versus what Dan has proposed Dan Larimer and the

20:19

fractal process that we're all following that's a very specific process that has

20:24

very specific attributes and I think they need to be distinguished in some way so

20:33

although I appreciate the idea that it is decentralized everybody's in a different part of the globe

20:39

and you're all collaborating but if you're not using that process to make the critical decisions it's not really

20:46

in the same class as something that's being used to being using that process

20:54

for the for the core of the of the application I'm not discouraging it at all I'm saying it's awesome but we don't

21:02

want to I don't think we want to mix the two in our minds we want to be able to separate those two

21:07

and if you're creating something of just you know you guys are getting together and you're all you're all contributing

21:13

to the same thing that's awesome but that's different than what's happening what's supposed to be happening and what

21:20

I think we're trying to do in Eden fractal and what we're trying to do in well eating on EOS is different because

21:26

they they've taken away the contributions the specific contributions the weekly contributions I guess but you

21:33

see what I'm saying that making that line between I see I see really the what

21:39

you are trying to to segregate uh and I understand the the logical reasoning

21:47

behind that uh myself I am in a mode currently where I don't know what we are

21:54

doing sometimes and I just want to collaborate and do the things that the best

22:00

experience possible uh actually that was an experiment now it is uh in

22:08

let's say sleeping and we continue into Eden fractal to do

22:13

what we can into Eden onions we create processes we improve those

22:19

processes seems to be that it is our foreign

22:25

like

22:33

things that we will discussed on on another hidden on all about fractal gram kind of kind of tool to have a better

22:41

communication when we are in group and an efficient and efficient to maximize

22:47

the time so I don't make any for the moment in my mind any uh links I

22:56

just want to do the things separate for what they are and then connect those little mental circles together because I

23:05

have some circles into my mind little circles that I want to connect them when

23:11

the time comes for the moment I am creating Loosely couplet things and when I want

23:16

to connect I will be able uh that's what I want but that's my op yeah

23:23

clear that's my opinion for sure I give my opinion here it's not how the things

23:28

have to go but I think if you are doing the things for what we have to do we have to think

23:34

too much about let's say all the connection possible connection that could arise

23:41

we are doing a good protocol good protocol first process first and then

23:49

add the people on it but I see where you you come from with your

23:56

um with your uh decentralization and uh

24:02

to be not kept to and Etc and I understand to be honest but um I am very focused on

24:10

first the the processes then you want to say something that yeah thanks for

24:17

um the thoughts Patrick and Perry very interesting I'm not about listening to this again and considering it more

24:23

deeply um I think I mean it's kind of a philosophical question and I can see like Dows or dams being throughout

24:31

history like first you know all in a sense like all ideas that people have rallied around whether it's a business

24:37

or a religion or something like that after all kind of like a different form of a Dao in some way uh but it and

24:44

there's also a spectrum too in terms of how decentralized and autonomous it is and so forth so I think

24:51

um I'm gonna listen to it again and I appreciate Perry for raising that thought I'm going to think about it more

24:56

and we should certainly strive to do it in a more decentralized autonomous and

25:01

empowering way um and I also appreciate the consideration to uh you different words

25:07

to more clearly communicate what we're doing as well I I I'll just I suppose

25:13

I'll leave it at that right now because I want to also discuss some other topics too but I see Perry has my ideas what do

25:18

you think Barry well I I don't I don't want to leave the impression that I'm trying to influence you to do it one way

25:25

or another to use it or not I'm not that's not what I'm saying what I'm

25:30

saying is however you you decide to do it if you continue to do it without the

25:35

strict uh fractal process or not I think it's I think it's a fair to to name it

25:41

properly because we're I I think we're very we're I think we can all agree we're trying to apply implement this one

25:50

specific anti-capture technology and if we're not doing that let's not call it that let's

25:56

call it something else episode so thanks Barry so one thing that I I

26:03

actually do want to just uh briefly touch upon here is that I think a lot about this article that

26:09

James Mark wrote It's called mutually benefiting from misaligned goals uh I'll briefly share it um it's basically about

26:15

how like with any Community if it's a fractal or Dao or whatever like the

26:21

community I'll share a link to it as well it's basically about he writes the contributions of others towards their personal missions Canon extends to be

26:27

considered value contributions to one's own goal so it's like the alignment of a community goal and the personal goal

26:35

um and like the community goal like I feel like what we're doing is quite decentralized autonomous and like quite

26:40

awesome right now because like people come and uh it's kind of difficult to describe right now because it's really

26:45

well written and so I would just encourage everybody to read it but I just figured I'd show it briefly uh but basically

26:51

um like when we have these Factor processes it's inspiring people to come together and work together even if

26:56

they're not making all the creative decisions together there's still like a huge amount of value in that and I think

27:02

it can work really really well like just write a bit of context one of the main reasons why I got excited about EOS and got into EOS and Eden and all this stuff

27:08

is I come from a creative background like I wanted to I used to live stream for many many hours playing music uh and

27:16

make videos and stuff like that and I wanted to figure out a way to Rally Community around some sort of Creative Vision so we can cooperate to make great

27:23

experiences I wasn't concerned about capture I've learned about the value of building systems that are protective against capture as we went along I agree

27:30

that that's a very important goal as well but really like there's another side of it which is just fostering collaboration and whether there's one

27:36

Community who's making all the creative decisions or just there's enough incentive for collaborations people come together once a week and want to help

27:43

each other in their own way I think both those are very valuable um I can go on more about it but I hope

27:48

that provides a bit of insight into how I see in addition to being protected from capture also just incentivizing

27:54

people to collaborate it's really helpful and valuable

these are topics we're thinking 1:20:59 about promoting here's how you can make a topic really easily make it really easy to propose and so forth and we could have it where there's more 1:21:04 promotion around the topic going forward so there's opportunities for improvement to make it simpler and also attract more 1:21:09 people once again I'm speaking crying for us if anybody wants to raise their hand share some thoughts feel free but I'm probably at halfway through this presentation so I'll probably take about 1:21:16 five more minutes to just share so if I've shared where it's at so far and some uh some things that we can improve 1:21:22 with it it's also been an amazing process in many ways it's helped us basically I was saying before how it's helped us like direct the meeting uh 1:21:29 Rosemary made a really interesting point yesterday they never thought of before in quite this way but like we talked a lot about 1:21:34 um how this is like a collaborative video creation process how we're creating vidoptimism together and one of the things I wrote on the Luma event it's 1:21:41 like this is like the greatest story or one of the greatest stories ever told because like we're making Amazing Stories together all these amazing 1:21:46 people together over the past year and longer and you can watch all our video we're up in your game with uh with 1:21:52 better vidoptimism and thumbnails and timestamp and so forth this one is kind of still in development we put it out real quick so people can see it and you 1:21:58 can see in the 57th week we talked about all these ways we can use these processes to help uh create the future 1:22:05 of human collaboration and help creators do all these amazing things and so these are all topics that people proposed uh 1:22:11 and everybody who proposes a topic like Dwayne propose Eden on eo's collaboration topic and that becomes 1:22:16 like our theme for the story so it's like a really powerful way for communities to like like people can be directors of a movie kind of in a way so 1:22:22 it's really fascinating really interesting uh how we can grow with this and I wanted to bring a little bit of a spotlight on both the uh deficiencies 1:22:29 and things that we can improve and the history of where it came from and then all the potential like it's provided so many creative amazing experiences and 1:22:36 interesting collaborations and so forth so put idea about the potential and you can imagine when we get more organized 1:22:42 so we can use this to spread the word and make Amazing Stories together and then with that being said I want to give 1:22:48 a little bit of an overview about some plans I have to improve in the short term and a medium term Fork agendas and 1:22:53 I'm very interested to hear comments and feedback about this um very interested to hear from the community and work together to improve 1:23:00 it so for one thing that I'm doing I'm working with notion we've talked about notion a lot there's a site at edencreators.com notion where there's 1:23:07 some articles that I've written in front after the 39th and 43rd meeting where Rosemary first proposed a topic right 1:23:14 using notion more to help communities cooperate and then there's a little story here and then there's also notion.self people haven't gone there 1:23:21 you can check out the full website to find more and then we discuss it again week 43 and I also discussed a little bit in week 57 too and there's this new 1:23:28 feature for notion projects which is really powerful I've been collaborating with rosemary to organize basically all of our work here and it's really powerful 1:23:34 to be helpful and one of the things I've been working on doing is creating a database of topics so these are some 1:23:40 topics that I've had on my mind lately as well as I have Lisa's topic here that I just curated briefly and these are all 1:23:46 like you could open it up in this side view so you can have some of the notes that I had for this meeting for example I kind of just put it together quickly 1:23:52 about different things that we can do so that's kind of the agenda that's on my mind right now that I'm running through and then there's other topics that I've 1:23:59 been thinking proposing like a roadmap reading fractal or talking about how to grow fractively or I've been I just 1:24:05 shared an idea about Taylor sessions to help us come to consensus about our mission Telos means the alternate purpose so I have some exciting ideas 1:24:11 about there thinking about uh thinking about doing a topic with Pascal for optimism punks for a 1:24:16 long time because he made a great initiative but these are some topics I've written a lot of other ones uh and I'm planning to organize better the 1:24:22 topics I have in my mind so I can pose them earlier and have it where people can see them in notion so I can share this and then also we can use tools like 1:24:29 uh typeform and Google documents to make it like you can sync it up with notion basically so anybody can propose a topic 1:24:36 there so we have it on the agenda of course anybody can pose on Consortium directly but this can be a way to have it where it's not just in that kind of 1:24:42 disorganized list sorry for skipping our windows I got a bit lost there but anybody could make a type form basically 1:24:48 so they can get it on a list like this over time we can decentralize it more and of course Consortium can be the main 1:24:53 place but this can be a way to organize it as well and one of the things I want to do here well there's two different other improvements so this can be a 1:24:59 medium term improvement where I can share this and anybody can make a topic and I'll also uh do that and we can promote it earlier 1:25:05 uh but then the second improvement too in addition to just using notion and using like the type form and notion

Chief Delegate Meeting with Yves

In this video you can hear an early introduction to DAMS with Dan Singjoy, Yves La Rose, and the Season 3 Eden on EOS Chief Delegates.

What are examples of DAMS?

Some of the biggest DAMS are Eden and EOS, which are communities that helps people cooperate!

Since forming eighteen months ago, the Eden community has collaborated to make thousands of hours of fascinating video content with hundreds of talented creators. The Eden community meets every week to make videos together and play an innovative game where they compete to help each other as much as possible. They give each other prizes and respect every time that they play together.

The Eden community also holds elections every week and season to help the community make creative decisions. Now, the Eden community is scaling up and innovating video production to new level!

The Next Steps for Eden DAMS

Eden has invested the last eighteen months growing together as a community, pioneering cooperation tools, and creating a vast catalogue of inspiring video content. Now that we’ve got such a rich library of great recordings and processes in place to keep creating more inspiring content every week, it’s time to start producing more amazing videos. One of the most fruitful next endeavors with ROI is creating timestamps and curating content, which can then be used for a wide variety of video production, clips, music, art , and more.

DAMS can use proposal and agenda systems to create proposals for helpful content. For example, we have made a proposal for Curating More Equal Animals, a profoundly helpful book with countless insights to help people cooperate. We also recently made a similar offer to the community to timestamp Eden videos and are in communication with several people who are interested. In the future we can imagine people making proposals in DAMS for far more creative decisions for amazing content.

The same processes that help people cooperate to create amazing videos can also be used in countless other ways to make life more enjoyable for all.
