What is the EVM x Ideathon?
Helios and the ENF collaborated to launch the first ideathon for the EOS community in 2022. It is called EVMxIdeathon and it also includes a hackathon for EVM for GameFi developers on Trust EVM. We submitted five ideas into this ideathon, including an idea for more ideathons!
You can learn more about the EVM x Ideathon in the following two articles and opening ceremony video:

Our Ideas
Eden Creators submitted five ideas in the EVMxIdeathon. Each of these ideas are in different stages of development and can create value in unique ways. We’re thankful for the ideathon for inspiring new innovations and are excited for further develop these ideas, as well as many others that may be shared in future ideathons. Enjoy!
These ideas are listed below:
Cignals
Opinions that help us cooperate! Cignals help communities know what people are thinking, get a feel for the room, and measure consensus.
DAMS
Decentralized, autonomous movie studios. An innovative, wonderful way for communities to collaborate and make awesome videos!
Eden Research
A note-taking tool for networked thought that combines the benefits of EOS with pioneering tools like Roam Research, Athens Research, Obsidian, and logseq.
Eden Talk
A Web3 empowered community forum to discuss Eden, EOS, fractal cooperation, and creative collaboration!
Ideathons
Competitions to create helpful ideas! We have an idea to do more ideathons on a recurring basis, which you can read about below….
More Ideathons!
Our idea is simple: let’s do more ideathons!
As stated earlier, ideathons inspire people to imagine new possibilities, discover innovations, and bring ideas to life. This ideathon has inspired the community with many exciting ideas and we’re stoked for more. It will be fascinating to see the brilliant ideas that people have created and watch the final ceremony. We’re super grateful for this opportunity… the only downside is that it’s only happening once and we don’t have enough time to fully develop all the exciting ideas in time for this ideathon. We’re excited to share and explore many more amazing ideas in the future, especially if there are more ideathons!
Shows like Shark Tank or Dragon’s Den recur every week and attract audiences of millions of people with thousands of episodes. The ideathon event structure naturally inspires great ideas, insightful experiences, and entertaining events that everyone can enjoy watching. The Web3 space is ripe for this kind of innovative media format to spark imaginations and help people understand the tremendous potential of transformative technologies like EOS. The proven success of similar shows in mainstream media can translate into continued success in the Web3 ecosystem, but with many additional benefits that are only possible with the power of EOS. For example, ideathons also provide a source of great content for videos that can be greatly amplified with the power of DAMS. For example, can see some of the excellent videos so far in the Helios EVMxIdeathon playlist. Future ideathons could be facilitated or amplified with other ideas like Cignals, Eden Talk, and Eden Research.
The EOS community is already pioneering several other innovative forms of cooperation, such as Pomelo and Eden+Fractal. Each of these cooperative mechanisms foster public goods in unique ways and provide a stage for community members to present their work. Ideathons provide a different kind of cooperative mechanism to foster public goods and innovations in a way that is not possible with Pomelo, Eden, or ƒractally. In addition to fostering public goods and innovations, ideathons also provide a stage for community members and facilitate multimedia content creation in a way that is not possible with Pomelo, Eden, or ƒractally.
So far the EOS Network has distributed over 2 million dollars via Pomelo and invested over 1 million dollars in Eden. Pomelo and Eden both repeat on a quarterly basis with hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes.
What if the EOS community did something similar with ideathons? What if the community hosted an ideathon each quarter? How many incredible, helpful ideas would this inspire?
Ideathons provide a vast design space for experiences and opportunities. There are many exciting possibilities to explore and we can experiment with different ideas…
So… let’s do more ideathons!
