GameFi is the next big mega trend in crypto and no blockchains are better positioned than EOS to be the home of GameFi & DAGGs!
The CEO of the EOS Network Foundation, Yves La Rose, wrote a fascinating article this week on NASDAQ, entitled ‘Decentralized Autonomous Gaming Guilds Are Essential To Build Up GameFi.’ Decentralized Autonomous Gaming Guilds, or DAGGs, are a novel approach that merge the best attributes of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and gaming guilds. GameFi is a portmanteau of gaming and finance, whereby gamers play with capital in ways that were previously unimaginable. As Yves stated on recent interview, GameFi is the inevitable overlap between DeFi and NTFs that is leading towards the gamification of decentralized finance. In this article, Yves shares a detailed account of the rapidly growing popularity of Play-to-Earn games, the wide range of new opportunities that blockchains provide for the gaming community, an introduction to DAGGs, and an exciting exploration of DAGGs & GameFi will help empower gamers around the world!
Accompanying the NASDAQ article, Yves shared an excellent thread with a concise overview of the GameFi industry and a prediction that GameFi will onboard millions of people. While the gaming industry has traditionally operated with a “Pay-to-Play” model where gamers pay and earn in-game rewards that have no real-world value, blockchain technology has unlocked a new “Play-to-Earn” (P2E) business model where gamers earn crypto assets with real value. Popular P2E games like Axie Infinity are empowering millions of people to earn a living by playing blockchain games and the GameFi industry is growing exponentially with a recent valuation of over $40 billion. According to a recent report from DappRadar, an average of 1.17 million unique active cryptocurrency wallets interacted with blockchain games daily in the first quarter of 2022 and GameFi accounted for 52% of all blockchain activity during this period.
With the rapid growth of GameFi and new opportunities unleashed by blockchain technology, GameFi entrepreneurs have innovated new gaming mechanics such as leasing NFTs with scholarships that provide profit for both players & NFT owners. These new opportunities & gaming mechanics have set the stage for gaming communities to coordinate as DAGGs to further empower their collaborations and there may soon be autonomous gaming guilds that dwarf the GameFi industry today.
With the tremendous growth trajectory of GameFi and the unique advantages of our tools, EOS is in the perfect position to actualize these exciting possibilities and empower billions of gamers around the world. The majority of popular GameFi dApps are already built on EOS technology and 4 of the top 5 blockchain games are built on EOS EVM, as covered in our May 9th Weekly Report.
Highly successful games like Upland, which recently partnered with the NFL Players Association and FC Porto, are made possible by the power of EOS to easily mint over 60 NFTs per second and process over 100 million transactions per day. Many more world class games, such as Blankos and liquiid, are pioneering EOS gaming technology to create amazing experiences for millions of players and build metaverse worlds for the next generation games. The benefits of EOS will soon become even more pronounced in the GameFi industry as our community continues to innovate and release powerful new tools, such as Trust EVM, to usher in the next generation of GameFi. DAGGs, The DAO Evolution of GameFi
From the Everything EOS Weekly Report - July 18th. Written by Dan Singjoy. You can read the full weekly report at the link and the story “DAGGs, The Evolution of GameFi” below.
The CEO of the EOS Network Foundation, Yves La Rose penned a new article in the International Business Times, entitled “DAGGs, The DAO Evolution of GameFi” in this insightful article, Yves explains the trajectory from Web2 Gaming Guilds to DAOs to DAGGs and how DAGGs will play a key role in unlocking greater adoption for the blockchain industry.
This article in the International Business Times provides a helpful follow-up to Yves’ article published last week in NASDAQ, entitled ‘Decentralized Autonomous Gaming Guilds Are Essential To Build Up GameFi.' If you’re not yet familiar, DAGGs, or Decentralized Autonomous Gaming Guilds, are a novel approach that merge the best attributes of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and gaming guilds. GameFi is a portmanteau of gaming and finance, whereby gamers play with capital in ways that were previously unimaginable. As Yves stated in a recent interview, GameFi is the inevitable overlap between DeFi and NFTs that is leading towards the gamification of decentralized finance. In both of these recent articles and an accompanying thread, Yves makes the compelling case that DAGGs will transform GameFi and help empower millions of gamers with fun, profitable, & social blockchain gaming experiences!
With industry leading technology and more popular blockchain games than any other blockchain community, EOS is in the perfect position to capitalize on this trend and lead the way by empowering gamers with innovative DAGGs & GameFi opportunities. To learn much more about why EOS will be such a pioneering market leader in the GameFi industry, read the feature story in our July 11th Weekly Report for an introduction to DAGGs, analysis of GameFi’s exponential growth, and the superb ability of EOS to foster blockchain gaming in ways that are unimaginable anywhere else. In addition to the weekly report and resources linked above, you can also watch EOS Hot Sauce #159 for an exciting overview of the tremendous progress and potential of EOS GameFi, as well some exciting EOS games like Upland, liquiid, and dozens of top tier games on Wombat.
