Introduction

Throughout 2022, the Eden ƒractal and Genesis ƒractal communities deliberated greatly and proposed severals ways for fractal cooperatives to express shared opinions, make group decisions, and express the will of the community. As ƒractally freedom engineer Mike Manfredi wrote, we built tools and processes for communities to build subjective consensus.

We called these processes ‘interim’ because the Eden ƒractal and Genesis ƒractal communities intended to build long term cooperative systems in accordance with the designs of the ƒractally whitepaper. Page 39 of the whitepaper outlines a fractal governance system whereby teams are empowered to make collaborative decisions for the benefit of the community. These communities have yet reached the scale or technical infrastructure needed to adopt the governance system outlined in the whitepaper, so the Genesis ƒractal and Eden ƒractal both explored interim consensus processes to make collaborative decisions for the benefit of the community.

Current Consensus Processes

The Eden ƒractal community informally approved the Eden+Fractal process and elected delegates for the first time in October 2022. Learn more about Eden+Fractal here.

The Eden ƒractal community is now also deliberating proposals to build consensus with Consortium.

History Interim Consensus Processes

Daniel Larimer proposed the first interim consensus process in June 2022 and it was accepted by the Genesis ƒractal shortly thereafter, but this process was obsoleted with the Fractally Whitepaper Addendum.
