HitRecord is an amazing collaborative media platform, production studio, and huge creative community founded by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
It’s difficult to describe HitRecord because they do so many awesome and unique things, but it is basically a growing community of many thousands of creative people from all around the world that collaborate on creative projects and create awesome content together. They’ve been doing incredible work for over a decade and recently raised 10 million dollars to scale their production company into a technology platform where anyone can direct their own projects and collaborate to make all kinds of awesome content!
The way it works right now is that anyone can start a project (such as a song, story, video, etc) and ask for contributions. For example, you could start a project to make a story about the benefits of music and make requests for contributions to help make a great story. You could put up a few posts on the site to openly ask for writers to share stories about their experiences with music, voice actors to narrate the writing, illustrators to portray the story visually, actors to play a role in the story, musicians to provide a musical score, and video editors to edit everyone’s work into a well-produced short film. This collaborative production model and creative process is fantastic and it’s super entertaining and inspiring to see what they’ve done so far, but they have also been held back from much more awesome potential by traditional funding, payment, and monetary incentive systems.
The HitRecord company pays contributors half of the profits earned from large brand deals (such as their recent deals with Ubisoft, Firefox, and Sony) and they have paid over 3 million dollars to contributors so far, which is super helpful for many creative people and the world as a whole. However, the creative direction and payment amounts are ultimately determined by the HitRecord team (with some input from the community), the payments are all sent out in checks (which I imagine are unavailable for many people), and as far as I know the payments are only available for projects that are led by the HitRecord production company. HitRecord has done an incredible job of working with these limitations and has accomplished an amazing and unique success feat built an awesome community with paid contributors, but these limitations hinder the HitRecord community from scaling to its full potential and becoming so much more helpful to make the best experiences possible for everyone.
I would love to see HitRecord (and/or communities working with HitRecord) integrate with the EOS to supercharge and scale up the benefits.... Bounties, automated payments, community governance to allocate payments and make decisions about what content to use, amplification and curation of the most helpful content with tokenization...I could see this becoming one of the main processes for content creation and production. Many millions of contributors and amazing work with an infinite variety of experiences.....
