EFBS 6 Notes
Perhaps remind people about delegates before breakout rooms
At some point in coming weeks, prob create brainstorming topic in EF telegram
Brainstorming topic - can just be in the live chat topic rather than a separate brainstorming sessions

Brainstorming sessions are very valuable
If you can’t do it or don’t have time, i could host it in the future
I think Perry has been overly critical, but has generally good intentions to help
You don’t need to convince perry otherwise, some of the questions he mentions are helpful and others can be ignored
I can help move it forward if/when Perry is asking too much
- Camera - Patrick’s camera lighting is bad, it’s very grainy, and - it reflects poorly for Eden Fractal that you are hosting with such poor camera quality in this meeting. Can you upgrade camera and use ethernet cable before next meeting?
- Point about the tools and hosting- you can host and moderate as you’d like, but i would appreciate if you allow me to finish point without interrupting me and cutting what i say. I was making a good point and then you interrupted it seems like you will cut it, so that’s a waste just because it wasn’t delivered how you wanted. Would appreciate if you allow me to speak and do not cut things that i say like that
- setting up the telegram live chat for future brainstorming sessions
Vlad mentioned having a place - telegram topic for brainstorming
not impolite to provide constructive criticism
- I will send my video recording - it looks better for Eden Fractal when you can see all of us - not just one person
Tadas - The motivation for the longer period is to ensure that whole fractal is represented. There's some randomness built into the delegate selection that comes from the fact that breakout rooms are generated randomly. By having delegates from 4 weeks we minimize the effect of randomness.

How many Council meetings have failed in meeting quorum?
Selecting alternate delegates during breakout rooms
I agree with Vlad and Tadas to optimize for simplicity. it’s best to ask potential delegates if they’ll be able to join
Education - best way to make sure we have delegates at the meetings is to ask
It usually doesn’t need to come up in breakout room, but say if a great delegate can be there for 3/4 meetings then they could say to proxy their vote to alternative delegate for week 4
Make it more difficult to make a proposal
Lennie- Just a matter of education and encourage engagement then no need alternate/proxy
Tools to track who is a delegate and proxy delegates
Tadas mentioned that we don’t have great tools for tracking delegates
Is vlad building this tool?
We need a record of the fact that the proxy was set. Zoom chat is not good for that.
Does delegate represent their group or individuals?
With Fractalgram, the delegates can keep in touch with the people who elected them

Voting if delegate is there
Can do it like Marco did it in week 35, where he said he’ll vote like
Edge Cases and Potential Security Risks
Are there security risks by enabling delegation in a less transparent way?
With the original intent of Eden on EOS, all decisions are on transparently on video.
If there’s a lot at stake, then there could be incentive to pay people to be a delegate
Hmmm interesting. It would be good to discuss this feature with Tadas, Vlad, and everyone. I wonder if it would add potential attack vectors or have game theoretical effects on the system. I think would require a change to the Eden+Fractal process so maybe it’s good to propose this as a discussion topic or proposal on Consortium…
If the replacement delegate is chosen during the breakout room, then why not just elect a different person as the delegate?
This can be done now without any code changes. The potential delegates could simply state whether they think they’ll be available or not, then the participants can take that into account when voting for delegates. This happened in my room a couple weeks ago- we were thinking about voting for Pascal but he said he wouldn’t be able to attend over the holidays so we elected someone else.
I think that the Eden Fractal community should develop a habit of asking potential delegates if they’ll be available for the next four weeks in every breakout room. This is a simple solution that would help a lot.
That being said, I can see some situations where a group might want Person A to be the delegate, but Person A is not sure if they can participate. Maybe there is a 50/50 chance that they can participate next week. Meanwhile Person B will definitely be available next week and would be a decent delegate, but the group would prefer person A to be the delegate. So the group could elect Person A as delegate with the understanding that if Person A can’t attend the Person B would be their replacement. Is this what you mean?
Perhaps this could see be very helpful in some situations, but am not sure if this would be confusing for people or worth the extra complexity in the UI. It is kind of an edge case and it may be better to just keep it simpler.
Thoughts?
MindMap notes
Patrick- I let you decide what you want to do
with those sessions - notes from mindmap
notes : Alternate delegate Proposal (Proxy) Clarification A delegate can ask for other participant in his breakout room to be his alternate delegate Not limit it to only individuals from the break-out room to be an alternate but open to anyone. Goal is to have an alternate delegate that represent the original delegate (and the original is not there), this alternate can vote only if the original delegate is not there. Decision is made on video Reaction Vlad Not discuss into the breakoutroom Tell the moderator before the meeting who you think should be the alternate delegate (the proxy) in the chat written Dan Not into the breakoutroom Ask a delegate if he will be here for the next 4 weeks Incentivize the delegate to be committed If someone wan to do a signal we don't do really a process Patrick Better education to incentivize the candidate that want to be a delegate to be aware that they have to be present on next week if they say yes Tadas First point of clarification is not needed Better in the main room Objection Lennie We are creating a complex process
