Historical Proposals
Vlad’s Proposal
Vlad has discussed the need for an overarching mission of the fractal and has proposed a potential mission statement of his own:
“Eden Fractal’s mission is to foster collaboration and build personal connections amongst EOS community members.”
1:13:39 - Eden Fractal 29 - Vlad talks about proposal for mission statement
33:35 - Eden Fractal 30 - In breakout room, Vlad once again talks about mission statement proposal
1:15:02 - Eden Fractal 30 - Vlad’s proposal about mission statement
1:19:20 - Eden Fractal 30 - Marco thinks voting on proposal should wait. Let the proposed mission statement linger in the minds of folks for a while to see if it really resonates with the members.
1:22:04 - Eden Fractal 30 - Eric likes the idea of mission statements.
1:23:34 - Eden Fractal 30 - Perry appreciates the sentiment of having a broad mission statement, but feels having a more focused mission is better for a young and growing organization. Uses General Electric as an example of a mission that was specific and gradually broadened.
1:35:58 - Eden Fractal 30 - Elias likes the proposed mission statement.
1:18:49 - Eden Fractal 31 - Gavriel feels we could accept Vlad’s proposal and refine it over time if we had better consensus reaching processes that he has suggested.
33:41 - Eden Fractal 30 - During breakout room, Vlad talks about mission statement.

Eric’s Feedback
To paraphrase Eric from Eden Fractal 29, a vision statement describes what impact the organization wants to have and to whom it is directed. While a mission statement describes how the group intends to make that impact happen.
1:20:27 - Eden Fractal 29 - Talks about mission and vision statements
1:22:04 - Eden Fractal 30 - Why he likes mission statements
1:49:50 - Eden Fractal 30 - Thinks a mission statement is valuable. How would world be different with our mission?
1:54:59 - Eden Fractal 30 - Most missions statements and values are worthless. Need something that will direct people’s focus, but not tell them what to do.
Dan’s Proposal
Gavriel’s Proposal/Ideas
1:41:07 - Eden Fractal 30 - Talks about implementing a Code of Conduct, as well as, to use the sociocratic governance model. Feels that if a proposal wouldn’t cause harm to the organization, that it is worth implementing and refining over time. Using this method could lead to more proposals being accepted, thus leading to quicker iterations and refinement of the Eden Fractal and its processes.
2:10:56 - Eden Fractal 30 - Explains the sociocratic election process and how it works. Mentions that he will draft a proposal detailing this process so it can be discussed at a future Eden Fractal meeting and voted upon, so we can begin to experiment with the process.
Marco’s Feedback
Perry’s Proposal
22:20 - Eden Fractal 31 - During breakout room, introduces mission statement proposal
1:48:33 - Eden Fractal 29 - Discusses opinion about mission statements
1:23:34 - Eden Fractal 30 - Talks about scope of missions. Uses General Electric as an example of a mission that was specific and gradually broadened.
