ƒractal ƒorums Overview
ƒractal ƒorums are recurring ƒractal events to help the Eden community make the best decisions possible.
ƒractal ƒorums feature a modified version of the ƒractally consensus process where discussions are focused on a particular topic that is decided by votes from the Eden community on Eden Consortium. All Eden members can propose discussion topics and vote for discussion topics with the on-chain voting mechanism in the Eden Consortium UI. The discussion topic for each week will be determined by whichever topic receives the most votes on Consortium.
Each week, we’ll meet for video calls with the ƒractally process to determine who provides the most helpful insights or ideas related to the discussion topic.
Incentive Structure
- We can incentivize & reward participation in ƒractal ƒorums with EOS, ƒractal ƒorums Respect (ƒƒR), Eden Respect (ER), and Consortium GOVRN tokens.
- All participants in ƒractal ƒorums could earn EOS, ƒƒR, ER, and GOVRN.
- All tokens would be distributed according to the ƒractally Fibonacci algorithm that we use during ƒractally meetings.
- EOS
- For example, we could start with 100 EOS total disbursement for each ƒractal ƒorum
- EOS would be distributed according to the Fibonacci algorithm, as detailed in the proposal draft for Eden ƒractal
- The EOS could potentially come from the Eden Treasury
- ƒractal ƒorums may work very well with Michael’s proposal to increase funding for Eden and fund Eden circles to grow Eden
- Perhaps ƒractal ƒorums could be a seperate circle or a part of the circle for community engagement
- ƒractal ƒorums Respect (ƒƒR)
- ƒractal ƒorums Respect will be accounted with a similar off-chain process like ƒractally meetings on Saturdays
- Please see the proposal draft for Eden ƒractal for more details that also apply to ƒractal ƒorums Respect
- Eden Respect
- In addition or as an alternative to ƒractal ƒorums Respect, ƒractal ƒorums participants could recieve Eden Respect as described in the proposal draft for Eden ƒractal
- It may be best to only account for one kind of Respect to keep it simple
- However, accounting for two forms of Respect would also be very simple and it could be very helpful to count both Eden Respect and ƒractal ƒorums Respect
- Eden Respect would provide a general ‘scorecard’ about how much each participant is contributing to Eden in any way
- ƒractal ƒorums Respect would provide a more specific ‘scorecard’ about how much each person is contributing to the decision making process of Eden
- There may be various benefits to accounting for both Eden Respect and ƒractal ƒorums Respect in the long-term and the cost is very low to maintain both forms of Respect in a spreadsheet, so I think it’s probably a good idea to keep track of both
- Examples of benefits may include:
- Composability
- Specificity
- Severability
- Autonomy
- Potential for ƒractal ƒorums participants to independently branch out as a DAO in the future and possibly provide ƒractal ƒorums as a service for other communities
- Consortium GOVRN tokens
- Consortium is a very helpful governance tool built on EOS to help communities make better decisions
- The Consortium community is very aligned with Eden. Most active members of the Consortium community are Eden members.
- The Consortium developers have already created a first version of the Eden Consortium UI and a claiming feature that enables Eden members to claim 250k GOVRN tokens at no cost
- Consortium GOVRN tokens have liquidity on popular EOS exchanges, such as Defibox and Newdex
- We are creating a proposal for the Consortium community to set a rapid inflation schedule of GOVRN tokens to help grow ƒractal ƒorums & align interests with Eden contributors
Considerations
- The ƒractal ƒorums could recur on any schedule according to the Eden community’s preference
- For example, ƒractal ƒorums could be held every week, bi-weekly, or monthly.
- The timing of Eden ƒractal events could be immediately before or after Bywire Eden town halls.
- These events may complement each other nicely and help provide exciting discussion topics during Town Hall events.
- Eventually there should also be rewards for proposing the best discussion topics and there are many other interesting tokenomics that may help when feasible.
- This adds extra complexity so it may be best to start ƒractal ƒorums as simply as possible and gradually expand the functionality as needed.
