Remembering Eden Fractal One Year
Story in the Everything EOS Weekly Report
The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) published a detailed story to highlight the debut meeting of Eden Fractal. The story was written by Dan Singjoy, the founder of Eden Fractal, while he was working for EOS Nation and writing articles for the ENF. You can read story here. The story is also shared below for your convenience.
Fifteen passionate community members met for the first Eden ƒractal meeting on June 8th and used the ƒractally process to reward Eden contributors with EOS, Eden Respect, and Eden NFTs. All participants expressed immense enthusiasm, gratitude, and excitement for the future of empowering the Eden on EOS community with weekly Eden ƒractal meetings!
After a brief introduction to the modified ƒractally process for the Eden ƒractal, the group split up into two groups of six participants. Each participant shared what they’re doing to help Eden with the members of their group and each group reached consensus within forty minutes to rank how much each participant is helping Eden on EOS. All participants made incredibly helpful contributions to the Eden community and received EOS & Eden Respect according to the ranking in their group, as well as beautiful special edition Eden NFTs.
The twelve participants in the first Eden ƒractal event were Vlad Hramtsov, Dan Singjoy, Chuck MacDonald, James Mart, Patrick Schmid, Felix Ruiz, Doug Wu, Marco Gonzalez, Duane Phillippi, Jay Taylor, Martin Breuer, and Mell Pearce. The group was greatly assisted by Joshua Seymour and former Chief Delegate Chris Barnes also attended to help support the event. The event was sponsored by Eden Creators, who have committed to donating 500 EOS and wrote the original proposal to start the Eden ƒractal & raise additional funding for future growth. Near the end of the first meeting, Patrick Schmid announced that NovaCrypto will donate an additional 500 EOS to the Eden ƒractal prize pool, which will enable the community to continue distributing 100 EOS per week to Eden contributors for several months. All funding from Eden Creators and NovaCrypto was raised via Pomelo and Eden on EOS, which are exceedingly helpful funding mechanisms for public goods that are uniquely possible on EOS.
The highest amount of Eden Respect was given to Vlad Hramtsov, the lead developer of Consortium and CETF, who is building smart contracts to enable Eden ƒractal participants to automate the consensus process with more interaction on the EOS blockchain. Vlad also created mock-ups for an intuitive Eden ƒractal UI with the help of fellow Eden member and colleague Lennar Lehestik. Complementing Vlad’s work, and in addition to inspiring the group with tremendously helpful insights, James Mart created basic versions of smart contracts that automatically distribute EOS & Eden Respect according to the Fibonacci ratio and enable participants to sign an on-chain Eden Contributor Agreement. Chief Delegate Chuck MacDonald crafted commemorative Eden NFTs for Eden ƒractal participants, shared fascinating plans to empower the Eden community with yield earning NFTs every week, and encouraged everyone to join the next Eden ƒractal Meetings during the eighth and ninth Chief Delegate Meetings.
Over the past week, the Eden community has been buzzing with activity and expressing great enthusiasm about the next Eden ƒractal events. During this week’s Genesis ƒractally meeting, EOS creator Daniel Larimer said that he is thrilled about the Eden ƒractal and suggested forming Mutual Respect between the Eden ƒractal and Genesis ƒractal. Many passionate community members discussed the Eden ƒractal during the past two Bywire Eden Town Halls in the Eden Discord and explored how the Eden ƒractal may synergize with the Eden Members Services proposal from Michael O’Sullivan that was ratified during the fifth Eden Chief Delegate Meeting. Patrick Schmid hosted an interview about Eden ƒractal on the NovaCrypto Youtube Channel, created a beautiful Eden ƒractal MindMap, and released a cinematic visual experience to help promote the Eden ƒractal. You can watch videos from the first Eden Fractal meeting here & here and you can also learn more about the first Eden Fractal meeting from Eden Creators founder Dan Singjoy on this week’s EOS Fireside Chat and EOS Hot Sauce.
Eden ƒractal events will recur every Wednesday at 13:00 UTC and everyone is welcome to attend. You can join the Eden ƒractal events every week to help Eden, help EOS, have fun with fellow community members, and be rewarded for your work. You can RSVP for the next event & learn more at EdenFractal.com, join the Eden Town Halls every Sunday at 16:00 UTC, and reach out with any questions or comments in the Eden Discord.
Dan Singjoy featured the first Eden Fractal meeting on the Hot Sauce, which you can watch here. You can watch the five minute summary starting at 28:17 for many exciting details from the founder of Eden Fractal. mmediately after the first Eden Fractal meeting, Dan joined the EOS Fireside to share the an overview of the first meeting, which you can listen to here. Both of these shows are produced by EOS Nation, which is a leading block producer on the EOS Network.

EOS Four Year Anniversary
Happy Birthday EOS! History was made on June 14th, 2018 when the EOS Network was launched and the first block was produced. Now, another historical milestone has been achieved with the deployment of Mandel 3.1 RC1, the first major community led release of the EOS core software!
The release of Mandel 3.1 RC1 is an outstanding development for EOS for both its symbolic significance and technological breakthroughs. While previous releases were developed by Block One, this is the first major core software release developed entirely by the EOS community. As we shared in the May 16th Weekly Report, this momentous release represents how the EOS community embodies the essence of Web3 & took our future into our own hands, independently of misaligned corporate interests. It is quite fitting that this mark of independence coincides with the four year anniversary of EOS and we are incredibly proud of our engineers for all of their innovative developments!
History was made 4 years ago when the #EOS Network was launched. 🎂 Another historical milestone has just been achieved as $EOS makes a major leap forward with the release of Mandel 3.1 RC1, the very first major community led release!#Independence 🚀https://t.co/X0bjG50Yk5 https://t.co/eD7NgVRR14 pic.twitter.com/0xRP6pF6uL— Yves La Rose (@BigBeardSamurai) June 15, 2022
The Mandel Consensus Upgrade has been in development since late 2021 and dozens of EOS technical leaders have been meeting to share launch updates every week for the past five months. In the ethos of open-source collaboration and transparency, all meetings are publicly viewable on the Everything EOS YouTube Channel and summaries for all Mandel Launch Meetings can be found in the Mandel Github repository. The group has made tremendous progress since embarking on this endeavor and this release brings exceptionally helpful enhancements to the experiences & functionalities provided by EOS.
Speaking about the upcoming release of Mandel, @BigBeardSamurai sets the record straight on the difference between a Hard Fork and a Consensus Upgrade on #EOS and why the distinction matters. Release 3.1.0-rc1 includes protocol upgrades enabling contracts to get the current block number and to accelerate various cryptographic computation, as well as many other new features, including:
- A new transaction submission API endpoint with full trace of a transaction failure and automatic nodeos-mediated retry
- Nodeos-mediated cache of transaction finality statuses along with a new API endpoint to query the finality status of a transaction
- Computation of transaction costs without committing the transaction
- The addition of new options for subjective billing
- Automatic pruning of old entries in block
- State_history_plugin (SHiP) logs
In laymen’s terms, many of these features will enable EOS to operate more smoothly, reliable, and enjoyably for everyone. Much of these developments were inspired by the API+ Blue Paper and will synergize well with the Transaction Lifecycle features developed by OCI to create better experiences for both developers and non-technical users. Additionally, advancements in cryptographic primitives may help EOS scale vertically with layer two roll-up blockchains and enable helpful privacy features. You can read about the new features in detail in the Mandel v3.1.0-rc1 Release Notes and hear an excellent overview of the new features from our Director of Engineering Areg Hayrapetian & Greymass co-founder Aaron Cox during this week’s EOS Fireside Chat.
💥Tonight at 9 PM (HKT,) #BlockchainAllStar is premiering! 🥰We are delighted to have Yves La Rose @BigBeardSamurai, Founder & CEO of @EosNFoundation @EOSFoundationCN. 🎉Join him to hear about EOS's plans for the future on the eve of the 4th anniversary of the EOS mainnet Launch! pic.twitter.com/nkIPSFd6zu— BSN (@bsnbase) June 14, 2022
In addition to the momentous software release, the EOS community also celebrated it’s fourth birthday in many other exciting ways. As we previewed in last week’s Weekly Report, Yves La Rose joined BSN for a fascinating exploration of his career and work with the EOS Network Foundation. Hundreds of EOS community members shared inspiring congratulatory messages about this week’s milestones, including EOS Rio, Ted Cahall, Zaisan, EOS Argentina, EOS Bees, Daniel Larimer, and EOS Nation.
Many community members also took the opportunity to reflect on the past four years and contemplate our future. EOS has an ineffably rich history and is completely unique as a decentralized community initiative from day one. While most blockchains were started by a central team with a huge treasury of tokens, EOS was launched by hundreds of disparate block producers coordinating around the world with by far the widest token distribution of any major cryptocurrency. To get a sense of how EOS community coalesced to launch EOS, it’s fascinating to revisit the the abundance of content produced around the mainnet launch, such as the EOS Go Launch Parties, block producer introductions, early seminars, and retrospectives.
Of course, there have been far more wonderful stories, relationships, and experiences in the past four years of EOS than we could ever begin to summarize here. It’s been an absolutely thrilling journey so far with countless helpful learning experiences and fantastic times with great friends. We are so grateful for all of the amazing people in the EOS community who are doing profoundly helpful work to create positive change for all and we send our earnest thanks to all of the value creators who have helped make these past four years so special. We’re ready to create immense value in 2022 and the future is more exciting than anyone can imagine. Happy Birthday EOS, we’re thrilled to share many more historic moments and huge benefits with everyone soon!
Happy birthday EOS! 🎉 On June 14th 2018, the first block producers were elected and the $EOS Mainnet was activated. We also produced our first blocks. Original BPs list https://t.co/icorEi16a1 a LOT has changed indeed! #EOSIO @EosNFoundation @bytemaster7 @B1 @BrendanBlumer https://t.co/n9D8NmrWWn— EOS Authority (@EOSauthority) June 14, 2022

Testing Eden Fractal 1 show notes
It needed to do it in like 8-20 minutes at a time. Here is the first 8 minutes
The meeting discussed the process of recording consensus, where participants are to post it in the Zoom chat while recording both video and chat. The recording would later be uploaded on YouTube or IPFS. The use of OBS to capture both the video and chat window was suggested. An attendee named Martin joined and expressed appreciation for the timing of the meeting, as previous ones had been inconvenient due to time zone differences. The intention of the meeting and the process of moving into breakout rooms were also discussed.
The itinerary of the meeting was outlined: an introduction followed by a breakout into groups of six or five (depending on the number of attendees). The groups would then have 40 minutes to reach consensus and post it in the Zoom chat. This would be followed by an open discussion.
The primary goals of the meeting were to empower Eden contributors with EOS, Eden Respect, and NFTs, and to enjoy the process. The ranking of contributions to Eden/EOS was a key focus, where attendees rank the contributions of each person in their breakout group. The ranking is based on who is deemed to be making the most helpful contributions to Eden and EOS. The highest-ranked individual is the one who is perceived to be providing the most help. Everyone's participation is valued, and attendees are encouraged to invite friends who are interested in learning about the process. The group needs to reach 66% consensus on the ranking.

🎉 Fractal Anniversary and EOS Updates
Dan Singjoy brought up the topic of the Eden Fractal and EOS anniversaries. He mentioned that it's the five-year anniversary of EOS and the one-year anniversary of the Eden Fractal community. They also held an anniversary meeting, which was their 53rd meeting. The official anniversary date is June 8th, 2022. The speaker also made a note that EOS first started on the same day in 2018.
🗓️ Anniversaries
They discussed the first block confirmation for EOS that took place on June 8, 2018, at 8:08:08 AM UTC. There was some ambiguity about the EOS anniversary date, as some members considered the official EOS birthday to be June 14th, the date when the EOS chain reached a 15% voting threshold needed for official activation.
👥 Community Engagement
Dan shared about the ongoing work at the Eden Fractal, a community dedicated to creating innovative games, shows, and tools through consensus games. Eden Fractal has been conducting meetings over the past year, with an average of 15 participants per week. Dan highlighted the community's achievements, such as producing public goods and creating an inclusive space for anyone interested in joining. Furthermore, the community hosts Fractal agendas where members propose topics, discuss them, and get rewarded for helping each other.
🎮 Games and Innovations
During the anniversary celebration, the Eden Fractal community played two new consensus games, Fractal DJ and Speeches. The Fractal DJ game, conceived by Perry, revolved around sharing music and ranking it using the Fractalgram app. To spice up the event, additional prizes, including 200 EOS and NFTs, were awarded. The Speeches game involved sharing the most inspiring speeches about Eden Fractal, which were then ranked by the community using a new application called Signals. Dan expressed their excitement about these new initiatives and the potential to scale them up for broader community engagement.
🎨 NFT Creation
Finally, Dan shared their experience creating their first NFT with assistance from Douglas, founder of CXC Music. The NFT artwork created was the first AI-generated art piece made with Cosmic Surfers, marking another milestone for the community.
